Have an old pair of jeans that you can't bear to toss? Then, turn them into a cute denim pocket purse.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 30 minutes or less
What You Need:
An old pair of jeans
Ribbon
A seam ripper
A needle
Thread
Scissors
Here's How:
Remove the back pockets from a pair of jeans using a seam ripper. Hint: If you work on the inside of the pants, the seams will be easy to see and rip.
Place the two pockets on top of each other, with good sides facing out, and pin.
Then, cut a piece of ribbon to serve as the handle, tuck it inside the pockets, and pin in place.
Sew around the outside edge of the pockets, and your purse is complete!.
Tips:
Personalize your purse with embroidery, buttons, bows or other embellishments.
Use the pockets off of a pair of child's jeans to make a change purse to go inside your purse.
Denim pocket purses can also be used as gift bags or party favor bags.
Homemade soap is a quick and affordable gift that's sure to wow – especially when it's this popsicle soap. Yum!
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes
What You Need:
Glycerin soap
Soap dye
Fragrance oil (fragrance)
Popsicle mold
Popsicle sticks
microwave-safe bowl or container
Knife
Foil
Here's How:
Coat the inside of your popsicle mold with cooking spray.
Next, cut up the glycerin soap into small cubes, and heat in a microwave-safe container according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Pour the melted soap into the popsicle mold, filling all the way to the top.
Add in soap dye and fragrance as desired.
Then, place a piece of foil over the top of the mold, and insert a popsicle stick through the foil and into each popsicle compartment. Hold the sticks down for one to two minutes, or until the soap starts to set up. (This will prevent the sticks from floating up).
Allow the soap to cool and harden for two to three hours.
Release the soap from the mold by inserting a knife on both sides of the bar, and then using the popsicle stick to pull out the finished soap.
Wrap, and give.
Tips:
For a pretty presentation, wrap each soap in a plastic; and tie with a bow.
Select fragrances and colors that suggest popular popsicle flavors--cherry, banana, chocolate, etc.
When giving to kids, be sure to label each bar as "soap."
Gingergirl Body Scrub
This scrumptious gingerbread scrub smells good enough to eat (but don't).
What You Need
12-ounce jar
3/4 cup each fine sea salt
Granular brown sugar
Almond oil
1/2 tsp each cinnamon and pumpkin-pie spice
1/4 tsp ginger
Few drops vanilla
What You Do
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, and transfer to a clean jar. That's it!
For a sweet finishing touch, cut a gingerbread shape from a brown paper bag, and glue it to the lid of the jar. A ribbon is the icing, honey!
Materials
1 Vinyl Record
1 Oven proof Bowl
Oven Mitts
Instructions
Begin by placing the bowl upside down (so the bottom of the bowl is facing upwards onto an oven tray.
Balance the record on top of the bowl and place it into a preheated oven at 100'C or 210'F for around 5 minutes. In this time it will become soft and start to droop.
Place the oven mitts on and working quickly remove the bowl and the record from the oven. Turn the bowl the right way up and push the record into the bowl to shape it into the same shape as the bowl.
You will only have around 30 seconds to work so work quickly, if you are too slow or dont like the shape of your bowl then place it back into the oven and start again.
Allow it to cool and its ready to use.
